CAPE ARGUS –
1939, February 20
Lines from Sunday’s sermon
“Jesus Christ did not regard His death as being the end of His fellowship with His disciples, and He promised them the spirit of the Comforter through which they would follow, not a local, but a universal Christ.
He promised them a spiritual presence in the place of a physical presence and translated religious truth from a temporary manifestation to an eternal revelation.
The expediency of His departure lay in delivering them from those limitations of time and place which their expectations implied.
No longer would they be able to say:
‘Lo here’ and ‘Lo there.’”
