More than 600 years ago, CLOCKS were created in Babylon, helping to keep track of time, build schedules and control the flow of a daily routine. Some people say the origin of the word WATCH came from the word WOECCE, an Old English word for “watchman”, as watchmen used the device to keep track of their shifts. Another means that the term came from sailors who used the new mechanisms to determine the length of their duty shifts (shipboard watches) in the seventeenth century.
